Since I finally got my new computer up and running Win8.1 - Thanks a lot
to this group  - I decided to check out the updates today. I do have
my computer set to auto install Windows updates I figured all is good.
When I checked Settings I found that NO Windows Updates have been
installed since 2/5/2014 which is probably when this computer was built,
but there is an "1Important" and "1Optional"update available.

I have tried twice to download and install the Important update and it
keeps giving me an error after the download. Any ideas as to what I can do??

Let's see if we can get some help your way and get it resolved. First up, can you post the information of the Updates. They are the number of the Update in the right side margin beginning with KB (Microsoft Knowledge Base number).

Note sometimes the easiest fix/try is to simply Open Windows Updates and click Scan for Updates. Then try again to install the Update. As well, it may be downloading the update in the background and until it is downloaded you can not click install. Sometimes Windows Updates runs in the background downloading updates (when set to Automatic) but will pause when there is activity to not be intrusive, and that generally in a large download.

Can you post the information of the Updates. They are the number of the Update in the right side margin beginning with KB (Microsoft Knowledge Base number).

Go To .....
# Control Panel (Open Libraries and on left tree of files categories skim down to Control Panel and click)
# If you are on Default Control Panel page, at top right where says "View By: " -click where it says "Category" and drop down menu > click either Large or Small Icons (full page of items)
# Scroll down to bottom and click Windows Updates
# Click on the Update so it is highlighted and the information about the Update appears in the right margin with the KB number.

There may be a specific bug or problem currently with the Update.

Here are some links (below) also to look up a Windows error message number, and you can also click the "More Information" in the right side there which will open the browser to the Microsoft site with description in full of the Update. Sometimes (blue moon) if there is indeed a specific problem there may be a fix on the site as well.

PS..... You can also simply type the error message number right into a Google search. Be careful to go to a Microsoft or well known help site to avoid some creepy hacker page in search results.
